There are a lot of people that really give me the you know whats …
Like on Monday night … I’m riding my bike home up the Mount Nelson bends after I got off work and it’s cold, raining and very windy. However, I’ve got plenty of warm wet weather gear on, I’m dressed up all bright and fluro and I have no less than three bright red lights flickering away on the back of my bike … it’s all good.
So, I’m riding my bike home, I know I’m extremely visible and yet some m… f… (sorry, but strong words were needed there) still overtakes me as I’m going past a parked car leaving mere millimetres of space between me and them. It’s the closest I’ve come to serious injury for many months and all because some driver wasn’t prepared to slow down a bit and wait three seconds to give me the time I would have needed to get past that car and given them some clear space … Grrrrr….
It’s the small things people …
But then speaking of small things, last night I pulled into my driveway after another cold, dark, wet ride home after another long day at work and flipped up the mailbox to find a couple of letters inside. Once inside my house and into some warm clothing I flipped open the first letter and found this …
Some kind soul had found my USB stick (which I hadn’t even known I’d lost) on a metro bus and had taken the time to find my contact details and then at their own cost they had mailed it back to me.
They hadn’t even included a name or return address so that I could thank them.
I can’t tell you how happy that small act of generosity made me … it made my day.
Whoever you are, thank you for restoring my faith in humanity.
