One thing I reckon that New Zealand has got right is their freedom camping act which pretty much let’s you stay (in a fully self contained vehicle) anywhere on public conservation lands. The only exception to this is where people have abused the right and have had that access curtailed which seems fair to me.
Our campsite beside the lake. |
One of our highlights in New Zealand was our first night where we freedom camped beside lake Pukaki with sweeping views out towards Mt Cook.
We hadn’t planned to freedom camp, or even stay here, but we stopped for a brief photo break and quickly agreed that there wasn’t much reason to move on …
Yep, all that for zip, zero, nothing … MasterCard can keep their priceless campaign , I’ll take New Zealand’s stay free camping anyway.
